Parents and teachers are always, it seems, trying to find parrot coloring pages. Children love parrots, and love the bright colors required to color pictures of parrots. The difficulty is that parrot coloring pages are not always easy to find. Or, when you find them, the level of difficulty doesn’t fit your need.
Begin with Colored Graphics
You can easily make your own parrot coloring pages from colored graphics. Begin by choosing a parrot from an online site such as clipart.com. Your parrot might be clipart, a photo object, or a photo. It could be a real parrot or a toy parrot – whatever kind of parrot coloring pages you want. Save the graphic on your computer, and open it in a graphics program such as Adobe PhotoShop.
Now follow these eight simple steps.
1. If you want an example to guide coloring, print the photo in color. If it is too small, enlarge the image.
2. Sharpen your graphic, if desired. In PhotoShop, select “Filter” from the menu at the top of the screen. In the drop-down menu, select “Sharpen” and then “Unsharp mask”. Preview as you change the settings to make details clear.
3. Erase any part of the background you don’t want.
4. Remove the color. In PhotoShop, you will select “Image” from the top menu,”Mode” and then “Grayscale”.
5. Next, lighten your picture. Select “Image” again, “Adjustments” and “Variations”. Lighten your parrot coloring page as desired.
6. If you need more detail, sharpen again as in Step 2.
7. Complete parrot coloring pages by removing unwanted gray with your “Erase tool”.
8. Print your parrot coloring pages in black and white.
Begin with Black and White Graphics
If you prefer, you can start parrot coloring pages with black and white graphics. On a site such as clipart.com, these will usually be illustrations. They may or may not be as realistic as photos, but you will save two steps.
1. Sharpen your graphic, if desired. In PhotoShop, select “Filter” from the menu at the top of the screen. In the drop-down menu, select “Sharpen” and then “Unsharp mask”. Preview as you change the settings to make details clear.
2. Erase any part of the background you don’t want.
3. Lighten your picture. Select “Image” again, “Adjustments” and “Variations”. Lighten your parrot coloring page as desired.
4. If you need more detail, sharpen again as in Step 2.
5. Complete parrot coloring pages by removing unwanted gray with your ‘Erase tool”.
6. Print your parrot coloring pages in black and white.
Once you master the technique, you will be able to produce coloring pages for almost any animal or subject you choose.
