Double Yellow Headed Amazon. That name is a beak full. Also known as “The Double Yellow Head” or “Yellow Headed Amazon”, this is a friendly parrot. It gets along quite well with other birds and with humans.
Your Double Yellow Headed Amazon is also a very social parrot. In its natural habitat, it lives in large flocks, sometimes as many as 100 in a flock. This environment produces a very extroverted parrot who likes to talk – a lot! It is not unusual for them to greet the dawn with loud screeches. Your Double Yellow Headed Amazon requires a large cage. Your parrot will want room to fly and climb about, so a good cage will have inside dimensions of 30″ x 30″ with a height of 48-50″.
Cages should be sturdy as these parrots have strong beaks. Steel or powder coat are recommended.

Since your Double Yellow Headed Amazon is an intelligent bird, it needs to be entertained. You will be responsible for part of its entertainment, but it will also need plenty of toys. Toys help eliminate screaming, feather plucking and biting. Toys help your parrot use pent-up energy. Put several toys in your parrot’s cage at a time. Rotate its toys often so your parrot always has a new adventure. Possibilities include:
