The male was accidentally killed which broke my wife's heart. After that the female became attached to me and she now talks beautifully. My family are regularly entertained at how much the bird talks. The bird clearly associates certain actions with certain vocal sounds, for example when she sees me she calls out my name, just before I touch the door handle she makes the same squeeking sound that the door handle makes and she laughs like my wife. I tend to disagree that these parrots are not good speakers as I can vouch for this. I would highly recommend these parrots if one can not afford the likes of an African Grey.
